Area Information

Burlington is the largest city in Vermont consisting of about 40,000 people not including academic fluctulations with UVM, St. Michaels and Champlain College students. It is nestled between the Green Mountains to the east and Lake Champlain and the Adirondack Mountains in the west. Lake Champlain is the sixth largest fresh water lake in the northeast.

The city of Burlington and surrounding towns are culturally vibrant with art houses, live music and a variety of dining options. In the summer, the Lake Champlain waterfront is host to music festivals, a microbrew festival, and a specialty food festival. The outdoors enthusiast can hike or mountain bike on the numerous trails through the Green Mountains, sail or swim in Lake Champlain and in the winter, ski on the northeast's best mountains. The food guru can dine at a myriad of restaurants cuisines including, Japanese, Brazillian, Mexican, Thai and Italian.

The local free newspaper Seven Days publishes weekly music, film and art schedules as well as housing ads. Another good place to find area news and housing is the Burlington Free Press.
