First, congratulations to all of the seniors who graduated this weekend! For some, you made the decision almost a year ago to apply to graduate school, others have been attending job fairs and applying for jobs, and still others haven’t had time to think about it. Applying to any graduate program should not be without a lot of thought and soul searching!
Born and raised in Burma, I found my way out to the United States for a quality higher education lacking in my home country. I graduated from Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI in 2010 with a BS in Clinical Laboratory Science (Medical Technology) where I found my passion in working with microbes during my senior year project in the lab of Dr. April Harkins. After graduation, I took clinical microbiologist positions in Cambridge Hospital and Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital’s clinical laboratories in Massachusetts to gain more experience in Microbiology. I have decided to join UVM in the fall of 2013 because of the vibrant research environment at the CMB program that has matched my interest in exploring deeper in microbiology and molecular genetics.
