In 2008, Focus the Nation was a national educational initiative of faculty, staff, students
and community members at over a thousand colleges, universities, and
high schools in the United States to collaboratively engage in a
nationwide, interdisciplinary discussion about "Global Warming
Solutions for America." At
UVM our events featured over 80 Teach-Ins and 30 events throughout the
week of Sunday, January 27 - Friday, February 1, 2008. See
our archives for past events, teach-ins, media, and more, including a documentary of last year's events.
In 2009, there was a split in the national effort into two organizations: Focus the Nation and The National Teach-In.
Here at UVM decided to create our own hybrid model and are going to
coincide our events with our annual Earth Week celebration. This event is a large collaborative effort with participants and sponsors from across the university and surrounding community.
