TCP/IP is a communications protocol used by all computers on the Internet. Increasingly, it is the only protocol used on the UVM campus.
In these pages you will find information on getting an IP address, and configuring you Windows PC or Macintosh to use TCP/IP. Most users can rely on DHCP (a service which delivers IP addresses automatically) to provide them with accurate, usable TCP/IP addresses, but individuals who require a static (unchanging) TCP/IP address should read on.
You will also find information on reconfiguring systems to use TCP/IP instead of IPX/SPX or AppleTalk.
