Student Services Office

The CESS Office of Student Services, a branch of the Dean's Office, welcomes students seeking information and support about any academic question ranging from advising to course requirements to licensure. Stop in from 8 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.; 1 to 4:30 p.m. (Mon.-Fri.)

Assessment Web Site: Building information and knowledge to continually improve the experiences of CESS students and faculty is paramount to the mission and goals of CESS. Visit this site to learn how you can use assessment tools, resources, and knowledge to inform and better your practice.

The Center for World Education: Educators play an important role in helping to construct a better world. Therefore, center activities support the efforts of educators by offering in-service and curriculum development activities, conferences, courses for educators, library resource materials, and other activities that engage teachers in learning about multicultural and global issues.

The Center on Disability and Community Inclusion (CDCI): UVM faculty and staff may use this center to: invite CDCI faculty to present in classrooms, attend CDCI workshops on developmental disabilities, order CDCI products on many topics, or research developmental disabilities in the CDCI library. The Centeris part of a national network of programs authorized by the Developmental Disabilities Act to collaborate with individuals with disabilities, their families, and communities, to promote total community inclusion for everyone. The Center works in partnership with the University and local agencies and organizations to promote independence, personal choice, and meaningful activities in their local homes and communities for all individuals with disabilities.

PT3/Portfolio Connection:

October 2003 marked an award to the University of Vermont for approximately $1.45 million from the U.S. Department of Education's Preparing Tomorrow's Teachers to Use Technology (PT3) program. The project seeks to expand the use of electronic portfolios in teacher preparation programs in Vermont and contribute to research on the impact of electronic portfolio development on teacher practices and technology integration in K-12 classrooms.

Technology for Teaching Lab: This lab offers crucial services, support, and encouragement to students, faculty, and staff. The goal of the college is for easy and natural use of all technologies in present and future classrooms. Call for current hours.

University Resources

Accommodation, Consultation, Collaboration & Educational Support Services (ACCESS): The mission of ACCESS is to provide accommodation and educational support services for students with disabilities.

African, Latino/a, Asian and Native American (ALANA) Student Center (ASC): The Center exists to ensure that ALANA students succeed at the University of Vermont. ASC promotes academic achievement, personal growth, identity formation, and cultural development.

Bailey/Howe Library Graduate Student Services: Many resources for graduate students, including advanced research support, are available through the library staff and faculty. Additionally, find information about media services, interlibrary loan, and library workshops.

Catalogue: The university course catalogue offers the official up-to-date courses offered, descriptions, and requirements.

Career Services: The staff at career services serves the greater university, but has people dedicated to different areas of the job market.

The Center for Cultural Pluralism: This "cultural hub" is dedicated to helping UVM achieve its core mission to provide quality multicultural education in order to equip faculty, staff and students with the competencies necessary to function in a diverse world. The Center focuses on the intersections of issues of culture and social justice.

Computing and Information Technology: For general campus-wide e-mail, network, and computing issues, CIT offers e-mail, walk-in, or phone support.

Counseling Center: The Center for Health and Wellbeing offers a full-range of counseling services for students at no or low cost.

Dean of Students Office: These dedicated staff and administrators are at the heart of creating a diverse, active, safe, and ethical campus, supporting all students by providing leadership and guidance to many offices and programs.

Graduate College: The Graduate College of the University of Vermont is responsible for all advanced degree programs except the program leading to the degree of Doctor of Medicine.

Graduate Student Advisory Council (GSAC): This group is open to all part-time and full-time graduate students. GSAC represents the voice of the graduate student body, and aims to provide services and activities to meet the academic, personal, and social needs of the UVM graduate students. Other responsibilities include advising the Graduate College on matters important to graduate students, awarding travel Mini-Grants, and sponsoring social and professional events. This opportunity is a great way to connect with other graduate students outside of your program and get involved on campus.

Learning Cooperative: This organization provides tutoring, group study sessions, and writing and learning skills conferences.

Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Questioning, and Ally (LGBTQ&A) Services: This office serves LGBTQA students, faculty, and staff at UVM through education, advocacy, support, and consultation for the community at large. Aligned with the University's mission, the office's aim is to transform the UVM experience for LGBTQA students, faculty, and staff to one that is safe, positive, and fully engaging.

Registrar's Office: For special forms (change name/ID, transcript requests, etc.), reports, course schedules, and account balance.

Women's Center: The Center is a place for women students, faculty, and staff to gather and celebrate the diversity of their lives, to engage in intellectual discussion, and to work toward the full participation of women in the life of the University.
