CDAE: Community Development and Applied Economics at UVM

Targeted States Education and Information for Vermont Agricultural Producers.

USDA-Cooperative Agreement, USDA/RMA.

Vermont is one of 15 states with low participation in USDA crop insurance programs. To increase participation, UVM Extension leads education efforts in Vermont to increase ag producers' knowledge and understanding of crop insurance programs and overall farm risk management. UVM Extension educators have conducted risk management educational programs for more than 500 Vermont farmers and have reached many others through articles and newsletters. Vermont farmers attending the workshops are more familiar with crop insurance programs and able to determine how they fit with overall farm risk-management strategies. (R. Parsons, G Rogers, D.
