Current Project(s):Characterizing the social and economic environment of the Green Mountain National Forest by showing the relationship and linkages between National Forest System land and communities
Katrina M. Van Dis was raised in Eastern Oregon on a cherry farm. Prior to moving to Vermont, Katy lived in the Pacific Northwest and worked for a variety of organizations in the fields of environmental restoration, youth education and biology. She has traveled throughout South and Central America and has volunteered with a variety of organizations. Her thesis research focuses on the conservation of public goods through policies and management strategies at two different spatial levels: the global and local.
Katy began her studies in the fall of 2003 and her committee consists of Chair Josh Farley, John Erickson (Thesis Defense Chair), Bob Parsons, and Fred Schmidt.
Katy’s other interests include rock climbing, hiking, biking, traveling and relaxing.
