Bio/Interests:

Jessica Massanari grew up on a small farm in rural southern Maine and went to Colgate University to study Environmental Biology. She spent a semester abroad in Costa Rica to study Tropical Biology with Duke University's Organization for Tropical Studies. Her desire to return to Central America spurred her decision to the join the Peace Corps as an Environmental Education volunteer in Nicaragua after graduating. Upon returning from the Peace Corps, Jessica worked with SmartWood, a Forestry Certification branch of the Rainforest Alliance. Jessica entered CDAE in the Fall of 2005 to delve further into issues of international development and sustainable environmental management.
