Born and raised in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, in the heart of Amish country, Emily developed an interest in the back story of the food on her plate at an early age. After earning a BA in Communications from the University of Delaware, she spent several years in New York City working for food movement pioneer, Mary Cleaver. Her worked planning socially conscious, low-waste events that promoted eating healthy, local, sustainably-sourced food. Her interest in food justice, sustainable agriculture, and natural resource conservation were developed during this experience and she looks forward to continuing this education in Vermont. Emily loves being in the kitchen and is an avid runner.
