Born and raised in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Cassandra earned Bachelors degrees in both Political Science and Women's Studies at Penn State University. An activist from a young age, she has spend a great deal of time working for gender equity and economic justice. Her varied career experience includes managing a women's health clinic, running a batterers' intervention program and analyzing policy for a lobbying firm based in Montpelier. Most recently, she worked as a policy specialist for the Vermont Campaign to End Childhood Hunger, promoting federal, state and local policies that expand access to federal nutrition programs. Cassandra is a currently working on a variety of projects as a research scholar at the University Transportation Center. Her interests include: public policy/financing, transportation, ecological economics, food systems and equity of access.
