Mark Gately specializes in computer simulation and modeling, and has applied these skills to a range of RMI projects, including Smart Garage, Oil Solutions Initiative, and RMI's internal strategic review. Mark is currently working on "Reinventing Fire," RMI's roadmap to guide the U.S. from a fossil fuel-based society toward one based on the efficient use of renewable energy.
Mark previously worked as a graduate student and research assistant at the Gund Institute for Ecological Economics at the University of Vermont, focusing on ecosystem service valuation and modeling; his two-article thesis was entitled "Dynamic Computer Modeling to Inform Environmental Management: Applications in Energy Resources and Ecosystem Services."
