Professor Raymond’s research focuses on market-based environmental policies, including emissions trading policies to address climate change. His 2016 book exploring these issues, Reclaiming the Atmospheric Commons from MIT Press, won the 2017 American Political Science Association award for the best book on environmental politics. He has also conducted research on a wide range of other environmental policy areas, including energy conservation, environmental risk management, renewable fuels, conservation tillage, and biodiversity protection on private lands. Professor Raymond has won major grants from institutions such as the National Science Foundation and served as author or co-author of over forty peer-reviewed articles. In 2018-19, Professor Raymond was the Fulbright Visiting Research Chair in Sustainable Economy at the University of Ottawa.
