Welcome from the Dean

Joel GoldbergAs I prepare these comments, the chill of the fall has begun to settle in Vermont, and we are only days away from the autumnal equinox. Fall is my favorite season. As the uncomfortable heat and humidity of summer begin to fade, the UVM campus comes alive with the buzz of new and returning students and faculty. The renewed energy is palpable as we are swept into the start of a new academic year. Read more.

Spotlight on Asian Languages and Literatures

John YinThe Department of Asian Languages and Literatures is the newest department at UVM; it may also be the smallest. At its founding in September 2007, it had four full-time faculty members and one part-time faculty member. Today it has six full-time faculty, three part-time visiting faculty members, and a part-time staff person. In the past four years, the Department has made great progress.
