Lecturer

A native of Vermont, Andy returned to Burlington in January of 2022 to serve as Student Media Adviser and a Lecturer in the Department of Art and Art History.

In his role as Student Media Adviser Andy works closely with campus newspaper The Vermont Cynic, student radio station WRUV (90.1 FM) and the main student-run video production club on campus, UVMtv. As a lecturer he teaches media production courses focused on multimedia documentary production.

Prior to arriving at UVM, Andy worked for over 20 years in sports media, producing documentaries, features and studio and talk shows for major sports media outlets such as ESPN and CBS Sports. From 2011 to 2019 he served as a Coordinating Producer at CBS Sports Network where he oversaw 65 hours of weekly programing.

In 2019 he left CBS Sports to pursue a Ph.D. in Communications and Rhetoric at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY, which he expects to complete by the Spring of 2024.

Areas of Expertise and/or Research

His research focuses on the study of sports media production cultures, and the complicated interplay between professional and (pre-existing) fan practices in the working lives of sports media production professionals.
