Allison Peterson - Moroccan Henna Ceremony

"The inaugural Occupational Therapy Doctorate class participated in a cultural immersion class in Morocco this summer. Occupational therapy is a brand new profession in Morocco. We went to gain a better understanding of how it is being implemented in their country and how OT can help a variety of individuals. By being completely immersed in their culture and working with local OT students we were able to challenge our way of thinking and creatively find solutions to problems that we may not experience here in the US. As a part of our trip we took the time to purchase traditional clothing and participate in a henna ceremony. It was an incredible opportunity to learn more about their customs in a respectful way."
