Athletics have always played an important role at UVM, where the pursuit of excellence encompasses the challenge of athletic competition as well as the intellectual rigor of the classroom. Victories in athletics rally the school, the community, and alumni, parents, and fans throughout the nation. To strengthen athletics at UVM, The Campaign for the University of Vermont seeks funding for three priorities:

• The LaCasse Ski Endowment Fund, named after UVM’s legendary director of skiing, who retired in 2003 after leading the Catamounts to six national titles, will support the men’s and women’s ski program.

• The University of Vermont Hockey Endowment Fund will support a men’s hockey coach and programs.

• Targeted funds will support construction of an open-air, outdoor athletic stadium for soccer and other sports, an adjacent all-weather field, and an outdoor track, plus permanent seating for 4,000 spectators and space for concessions, picnicking, and restrooms.
