Undergraduate Offerings

The College of Agriculture and Life Sciences has six undergraduate departments, four programs that are shared with other UVM colleges and schools, as well as a self design program. Below is a list of our departments and programs.

Animal Science Department (ASCI)

  • Major: Bachelor of Science in Animal Science
    Concentrations: Preveterinary/Preprofessional, Equine Science, Dairy Management, and General
  • Minor: Animal Science

Community Development and Applied Economics Department (CDAE)

  • Majors: Bachelor of Science in Community Entrepreneurship, Bachelor of Science in Community and International Development and Bachelor of Science in Public Communication
  • Minors: Applied Design, Community Entrepreneurship, Community and International Development, and Consumer and Advertising Consumer Affairs

Microbiology and Molecular Genetics Department (MMG)

  • Majors: Bachelor of Science in Microbiology, Bachelor of Science in Molecular Genetics
  • Minors: Microbiology, Molecular Genetics
The College of Agriculture and Life Sciences shares this department with the College of Medicine (COM). Undergraduate studies are in CALS while graduate studies are in the COM.

Nutrition and Food Sciences Department (NFS)

  • Majors: Bachelor of Science in Dietetics, Nutrition and Food Sciences, Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Food Sciences
  • Minor: Nutrition and Food Sciences

Plant Biology Department (PBIO)

  • Major: Bachelor of Science in Plant Biology
    Concentrations: Evolution and Ecology of Plants, General Plant Biology, Plant Molecular Biology
  • Minor: Plant Biology

Plant and Soil Science (PSS)

  • Majors: Ecological Agriculture, Sustainable Landscape Agriculture
  • Minors: Ecological Agriculture, Soil Science, Sustainable Landscape Horticulture

College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS)

  • Minor: Food Systems

This interdisciplinary minor is supported by faculty and courses in Animal Science, Community Development and Applied Economics, Environmental Sciences, Environmental Studies, Nutrition and Food Sciences, Plant Biology, and Plant and Soil Science.
