Sustainable Innovation First Mover Scholarship: $15,000

Eligibility Deadline: November 15, 2017

Award Description: This merit-based scholarship is awarded to a single deserving member of the Class of 2019 whose application demonstrates the highest levels of commitment and achievement pertaining to sustainable business, innovation, and/or entrepreneurship; and future potential as a transformational change agent who will create positive social and/or environmental value through for-profit business models.

Eligibility: All applicants to the program for the 2018/19 year who receive an Admit letter from the Graduate College on or before November 15, 2017 are eligible. Each applicant that meets these requirements (‘Candidate’ hereafter) is automatically considered for this scholarship.

Award Criteria and Process: The Program Directors will evaluate each Candidate based on his or her application materials. All elements of the application will be considered, including but not limited to: the statement of purpose, academic performance, work and volunteering experience, other extra-curricular activities, GMAT or GRE scores, and letters of recommendation.

In evaluating these materials, emphasis is placed on evidence for the Candidate’s commitment and achievement pertaining to sustainable business and innovation—a demonstrated history and/or passion for using the power of enterprise to create mutual value for owners and the local and global communities in which they operate. Other considerations include a Candidate’s commitment and achievement pertaining to social and environmental sustainability more broadly, and evidence of a Candidate’s ability to achieve academic excellence in the \program (e.g., GMAT scores, prior work experience).

Accepting the Award: See the section under the heading, “Acceptance Conditions for all Scholarship Awards.”  The recipient remains an eligible Candidate for all other incoming scholarships described herein, except the Sustainable Innovation Achievement Scholarship awards.

 

Sustainable Innovation Achievement Scholarship (X 3): $15,000

Eligibility Deadlines: February 15, 2018; April 16, 2018; & May 15, 2018

Award Description: This merit-based scholarship is awarded to each of three deserving members of the Class of 2019 whose application demonstrates the highest levels of commitment and achievement pertaining to sustainable business, innovation, and/or entrepreneurship; and future potential as a transformational change agent who will create positive social and/or environmental value through for-profit business models.

Eligibility: All applicants to the program for the 2018/19 year who receive an Admit letter from the Graduate College on or before each of the dates listed below are eligible for the associated Achievement awards, except for the recipients of the Sustainable Innovation Excellence Scholarship, the Sustainable Innovation First Mover Scholarship, and any prior Sustainable Innovation Achievement Scholarship awards. Each applicant that meets these requirements (‘Candidate’ hereafter) is automatically considered for this scholarship, which is awarded to the most deserving Candidate as of February 15, 2018; April 16, 2018; and May 15, 2018.

Sustainable Innovation International Student Scholarship: $15,000

Eligibility Deadline: April 16, 2018

Award Description: This merit-based scholarship is awarded to a single deserving member of the Class of 2019 who is a non-U.S. citizen, and whose application demonstrates the highest levels of commitment and achievement pertaining to sustainable business, innovation, and/or entrepreneurship; and future potential as a transformational change agent who will create positive social and/or environmental value through for-profit business models.

Eligibility: All applicants to the program for the 2018/19 year who receive an Admit letter from the Graduate College on or before April 16, 2018 and have the status of non-U.S. citizen are eligible. Each applicant that meets these requirements (‘Candidate’ hereafter) is automatically considered for this scholarship.

Award Criteria and Process: The Program Directors will evaluate each Candidate based on his or her application materials. All elements of the application will be considered, including but not limited to: the statement of purpose, academic performance, work and volunteering experience, other extra-curricular activities, GMAT or GRE scores, and letters of recommendation.

Sustainable Innovation Inclusive Achievement Scholarship: $15,000

Eligibility Deadline: May 15, 2018

Award Description: This merit-based scholarship is awarded to a single deserving member of the Class of 2019 from an underrepresented group whose application demonstrates the highest levels of commitment and achievement pertaining to sustainable business, innovation, and/or entrepreneurship; and future potential as a transformational change agent who will create positive social and/or environmental value through for-profit business models.

Eligibility: Each applicant to the program for the 2018/19 year that meets the following requirements (‘Candidate’ hereafter) is eligible. Candidates will be considered if they:
i. are a member of one of the following underrepresented groups: African, Latino(a), Asian, Native American, and Bi/Multiracial students) or are a first generation college student in that neither parent (or the parent, as applicable) holds an undergraduate Baccalaureate degree;
ii. are a U.S. citizen;
iii. receive an Admit letter from the Graduate College on or before May 15, 2018;
iv. are not the recipient of the Sustainable Innovation Excellence Scholarship; and
v. communicate their desire to be considered by contacting the Program Coordinator (si-mba@uvm.edu) before May 15 and confirming their eligibility.

Award Criteria and Process: The Program Directors will evaluate each Candidate based on his or her application materials. All elements of the application will be considered, including but not limited to: the statement of purpose, academic performance, work and volunteering experience, other extra-curricular activities, GMAT or GRE scores, and letters of recommendation.

In evaluating these materials, the greatest emphasis is placed on evidence for the Candidate’s commitment and achievement pertaining to sustainable business and innovation—a demonstrated history and/or passion for using the power of enterprise to create mutual value for owners and the local and global communities in which they operate. Secondary considerations include a Candidate’s commitment and achievement pertaining to social and environmental sustainability more broadly, and evidence of a Candidate’s ability to achieve academic excellence in the program (e.g., GMAT scores, prior work experience).

Accepting the Award: See the section under the heading, “Acceptance Conditions for all Scholarship Awards.” Receiving this award is also contingent upon confirmation of the eligibility requirements by the Graduate College. The recipient remains an eligible Candidate for all other awards described herein, except the Sustainable Innovation International Student Scholarship.

 

Sustainable Innovation Excellence Scholarship: $25,000

Eligibility Deadline: June 15, 2018

Award Description: This merit-based scholarship is awarded to a single deserving applicant who joins the incoming MBA class for the 2018/19 year, and whose application demonstrates the highest levels of commitment and achievement pertaining to sustainable business, innovation, and/or entrepreneurship, and future potential as a transformational change agent who creates positive social and/or environmental value through for-profit business models.

Eligibility: All applicants to the program for the 2018/19 year who receive an Admit letter from the Graduate College on or before June 15, 2018 are eligible. Each applicant that meets these requirements (‘Candidate’ hereafter) is automatically considered for this scholarship.

Award Criteria and Process: The Program Directors will evaluate each Candidate based on his or her application materials. All elements of the application will be considered, including but not limited to: the statement of purpose, academic performance, work and volunteering experience, other extra-curricular activities, GMAT or GRE scores, and letters of recommendation.

In evaluating these materials, emphasis is placed on evidence for the Candidate’s commitment and achievement pertaining to sustainable business and innovation—a demonstrated history and/or passion for using the power of enterprise to create mutual value for owners and the local and global communities in which they operate. Other considerations include a Candidate’s commitment and achievement pertaining to social and environmental sustainability more broadly, and evidence of a Candidate’s ability to achieve academic excellence in the program (e.g., GMAT scores, prior work experience).

Accepting the Award: See the section under the heading, “Acceptance Conditions for all Scholarship Awards.” If the recipient was previously selected to receive any other incoming student scholarship(s) described herein, he or she must forfeit it to accept the Sustainable Innovation Excellence Scholarship.

Acceptance Conditions for all Scholarship Awards

The top-ranked Candidate selected to receive each incoming student scholarship will be notified via the email address he or she included on the application, typically within a few days following the date listed in the “Eligibility” criteria for the award. Acceptance of the award will be assumed if the recipient has already paid the tuition deposit, barring a request to forfeit the award (including deferrals from the prior year). If the selected Candidate has not yet paid the deposit, he or she must (a) inform the Program Coordinator (si-mba@uvm.edu) of their intent to accept the award within 7 days following the initial notification, and (b) ensure a nonrefundable deposit check in the amount of $500 is received by the Program Coordinator within 14 days of  the initial notification; should these conditions not be met, the selected Candidate forfeits the award, which will then be offered to the next ranked Candidate.

All scholarship awards will be applied toward tuition balances for Modules 1 through 4, contingent upon the successful completion of the summer online preparation course and the recipient’s active enrollment in Modules 1 and 2 by August 27, 2018.
