Matt Greer is planning to enroll at the Georgetown University Law Center this fall. Matt graduated in May 2010 from the School of Business Administration and now works as a Consultant at Marketing and Planning Systems, a marketing research and strategic consulting firm in Waltham, MA. While at UVM, Matt worked in the Campus Recreation department and was a member of the Honors College. Matt wrote his Honors thesis under the guidance of Dr. Amy Tomas. The paper, An Analysis of Sponsorship Relationships in the Collegiate Sports Industry, provided an excellent opportunity for practical research experience and also opened the door to a job soon after graduation.
Matt says his favorite class was Integrated Product Design (IPD), an invitation-only class for juniors and seniors. He liked working with like-minded business students who took an inter-disciplinary approach to solving pragmatic business problems. Under the tutelage of IPD Executives Dr. Larry Shirland, Jerry Manock, and Peter Morris, he says he was able to put his business knowledge to use in a real-world environment.
"It was an integral part of my business education," said Matt.
Matt believes students should take advantage of the many opportunities offered at the Business School.
"Attend lectures, join clubs, get to know the terrific faculty - chances to do things like that will evaporate after graduation," he said. "Also, be shameless and dogged in pursuit of jobs, nothing comes easy."
