Deane C. Davis Outstanding Business of the Year Named

Dann Van Der Vliet, of the Family Business Initiative at UVM, talks to the crowd

As the jazz music played softly in the background, Vermont State and business leaders gathered in Kalkin Hall on Tuesday, May 22 to recognize and honor some of Vermont’s best companies during the Deane C. Davis (DCD) Hall of Fame reception.

Last year’s award winner, Small Dog Electronics, was officially inducted into the Hall of Fame during the reception.  Small Dog is the only Apple Specialist and Authorized Apple reseller in Vermont.

“I cannot think of a better place to host the DCD Hall of Fame,” said John Boutin, of the Vermont Business Magazine.  “So many students walk through this lobby everyday and it is here they can see and receive inspiration from the outstanding Vermont companies represented in the Hall of Fame.”

“This has been an exciting year here at the UVM Business School,” said Dann Van Der Vliet, of the Family Business Initiative at UVM.  “Under the leadership of Dean Sanjay Sharma, we have announced several new programs and partnerships that will have long lasting impacts both locally and globally.  The university is proud to support the Deane C. Davis Vermont Business Hall of Fame and to continue our work to support businesses around the state of Vermont.”

The 2012 Deane C. Davis award winner is Foley Family of Companies, which includes The Party Store, Pistols & Roses, Foley Services and Foley Distributing.
