Ryan Walker, International Management, '09
After graduating with a degree in Business Administration in 2009, Ryan Walker decided to start his career in Advertising & Marketing. He says the support he received from the UVM School of Business was a determining factor in his ability to find an entry level position in the current economy.
After interviewing with several firms and completing an apprenticeship with an independent pharmaceutical advertising agency, he was offered an Associate Traffic Manager position at MRM Worldwide — a subsidiary of McCann WorldGroup International.
As an Associate Traffic Manager, he is responsible for ensuring the completion of advertisements for specific business lines, and doing so in the most efficient manner. His daily tasks include creating time schedules, updating status reports for various advertisements, and delivering drafts or proofs to the necessary approval departments. He is responsible for makeing sure that all of the required departments are doing their job in full to complete the ads on time.
Walker's position enables him to interact with various groups and levels within the company. He is also involved with the recruiting committee as a liaison for UVM, as well as colleges.
In his spare time, he is involved with the New York Young Republicans, serves as a member of the Planning and Events Committee for the UVM Alumni Association, and enjoys exploring New York City.
