Summer ASL Courses
The following courses are usually offered every Summer under the College of Education and Social Services at the University of Vermont:
ASL 001: American Sign Language I
Prerequisite: none.

The above courses covers the fundamentals of expression and understanding of American Sign Language, including grammar, facial markers, body classifiers, vocabulary, and fingerspelling. Elements of Deaf Culture are also explored. Students will acquire a functional understanding of American Sign Language and the culture of native users of this language. These courses fulfill the Arts & Sciences foreign language distribution requirement.
