DNCE 060A ~ Movement and Improvisation
Instructor: Claire Byrne Lecturer in Dance More . . .
Movement and Improvisation is a movement class for creative people and movers of all sorts. Students do not need previous dance experience. The class will help students develop comfort and awareness of body communication and intention through movement, sound, and spoken word; range of physical dynamics and content; and skill in ensemble performance work-leading to theatrical and choreographic understandings, capacity for leadership, cohesion in group dynamics, and personal insight. Movement, sounding, vocal work, partnering, and site specific performance are included. Material fees include the text Free Play by Steven Nachmanovitch and tickets to see local live performances of dance and theater.
