From my end, I just wanted to leave you with a summary of CAS accomplishments since I took the reins of the College in July of 2012. The document I have prepared (CAS Strategic Plan and Vision: UVM 2012-15) is not comprehensive but attempts to highlight my strategic plan and vision and a selection of notable changes to illustrate how the plan and vision were moved into action. Falls Appointed Interim Dean of Arts and Sciences
Bill Falls, chair of the Department of Psychological Sciences, has been appointed interim dean, effective July 15, 2015, the University of Vermont has announced. Falls has chaired the Psychological Science Department, one of the largest, most intellectually diverse and most successful academic departments at UVM, since 2006. Read more.
California Dreaming
It’s 4 p.m. on a Thursday in UVM’s Kalkin Hall — hello, afternoon slump! Not for Eugene Korsunskiy, who’s wearing a peppy plaid shirt and jeans and is literally bouncing around the room, arranging tables askew to the beat of Generationals tune, from a Songza “Happy” play list that soon gives way to “Sugar, Sugar” by the Archies. Casting Shadows
When art professor Thomas Brennan walks into Williams Hall, he can cast an upward glance at the building’s ornate terra cotta façade. “The Williams Science Hall” spelled out in an arc, a trio of medallions honoring eminent nineteenth-century men of science — naturalist Jean Louis Rodolphe Aggassiz, inventor Samuel F.B. Morse and physicist Joseph Henry. Read more.
