Mapping a Network Drive: Windows Vista - Zoofiles

If you are on campus, or logged into UVM's VPN client from anywhere AND on a fast network connection, you can map a network drive to either your Zoo or Active Directory storage space. Here's how:

1. Double click the "Computer" icon on the desktop:
   
2. Click the "Map network drive" icon along the top of the Computer window and the following window will appear:
   
3. Select an un-used drive letter, such as "Z:"
4. In the folder field enter:\\zoosecure\youruvmnetid replacing "youruvmnetid" with your own UVM netID. If you are unsure as to what your UVM netID is look yourself up on the UVM Online Directory. Your UVM netID is listed at the bottom of your contact information.
5. "Reconnect at logon" should be off if you are not on your own machine, on a public machine, or are connecting from someone else's user account. Otherwise you can leave "Reconnect at logon" turned on and Windows will reconnect you to this network drive when you log in.
6. Click on "different user name" in "Connect using a different user name", which opens another window:
   
7. Enter your UVM netID and Password in the fields indicated.
8. Then click OK. If you've done everything correctly you should see an open Windows Explorer window showing you the contents of your personal directory on Zoo. You may then copy files to and from the mapped drive as if it was a floppy disk or any other network volume.
