Department Web sites must use the UVM Web Publishing System
The UVM web team developed the UVM
Web Publishing System several years ago in order to provide an easy method
of standardizing UVM's web appearance across the institution. The College
has taken this effort one step further in that we require that all our departments
- It is a standard understood and supported by the CAS Computing
Services Office, the UVM Web Team, the Helpline, and
the Center
for Teaching and Learning.
- Training on web site design, maintenance and the web template in general
is available from the UVM
Web team. Therefore new webmasters can get the training they need
in order to quickly pick up where the last left off.
- Because the web publishing system is the UVM-wide standard, any changes
to the appearance of the UVM web presence will automatically apply
to your site, eliminating the need for some maintenance.
The alternative to using the web template is: a chaos of Web sites that
are not easily identifiable as belonging to UVM let alone to the College
of Arts and Sciences; department webmasters forced to scrap and completely
redo department sites because the old webmaster didn't fully document how
to maintain their site, etc.
