The following two courses serve as useful entry level courses for students to gain a sense of what a major or minor in math would entail:
MATH 021 Calculus I
Introduction to calculus of functions of one variable including: limits, continuity, techniques and applications of differentiation and integration. Credit not given for more than one course in the pair 019, 021. Offered both spring and fall.
MATH 052 Fundamentals of Mathematics
Fundamental mathematical concepts and techniques, emphasizing proofs and algorithms, are investigated within the context of topics such as number theory and graph theory. Sample topics are encryption, error-correcting codes, and fractals. Three credits. Offered both spring and fall.
