Old Mill
What happens here –UVM's oldest building, Old Mill, has maintained its 1880s charm on the outside, but inside is a state-of-the-art facility housing several programs in the College of Arts and Sciences. Four types of classrooms are found in Old Mill: fully equipped lecture halls, traditional classrooms, seminar rooms and computer classrooms. On a historical note, the cornerstone of the Old Mill was laid by the Marquis de Lafayette, a hero of the American Revolution, when he toured the new Republic in 1825. The Dewey Lounge on the second floor was once the University Chapel. The stained glass windows still in place there honor such noted figures as Plato and Dante.
