Seminars like these are offered to first-year Arts and Sciences students:
UVM students rated their level of academic challenge higher than students at peer schools. The intimate relationships formed within our classrooms, and the broad vision of ongoing research projects converge to create a dynamic academic environment at UVM. The student-teacher ratio averages 16:1 — and distinguished senior faculty regularly teach introductory courses and involve undergraduates in their research. Faculty members are well known experts in their fields. One measure of a faculty is the grant support they attract (from places like the National Science Foundation, the National Institutes of Health, the National Endowment for the Humanties and others) — UVM ranks in the top 20 among U.S. research universities with enrollment under 15,000. Our peers in that category are some of the foremot universities in the country.
But another measure is how accessible, approachable and respected faculty members are. UVM students consistently express this:
