Information regarding SAT Score Choice and ACT Super Scoring: UVM considers your highest section scores across all SAT and ACT dates submitted. Applicants are encouraged to send scores from every SAT or ACT test date in which they received a top score in each section. Final admissions decisions are based only on your highest section scores, and UVM updates applicant records each time we receive new scores.

First-Year Applicants

This section is for those applicants who are U.S. citizens, permanent residents, refugees or asylees only.

Deadlines:
  • Regular notification: Jan. 15
  • Early action: November 1
  • Spring semester: November 1

First-Year Applicant Checklist

  • Your completed application
  • $55 (U.S.) nonrefundable application fee (first-year applicants who apply by November 1 under Early Action will have their application fee waived. Cash is not an accepted form of payment.)
  • Official high school transcript sent directly to Admissions by your high school
  • First quarter grades (For Early Action candidates only)
  • Mid-year grades
  • Official SAT or ACT scores* with writing component (official only if submitted directly from the testing agency)
  • Letter of recommendation (only one is required)
  • Students applying for financial aid should file the FAFSA by February 10 (priority deadline)

Transfer Applicants

This section is for transfer applicants who are U.S. citizens, permanent residents, refugees or asylees only.

Deadlines:
  • Fall Transfer deadline: April 15
  • Spring semester: November 1

Transfer Applicant Checklist

  • Your completed application
  • $55 (U.S.) nonrefundable application fee (cash is not an accepted form of payment)
  • Final, official high school transcript sent directly to Admissions from your high school
  • Official transcripts from all post-secondary institutions, sent directly from the issuing institution in order to be considered official (Note: In order to complete your transfer application, you must invite both a Registrar and Academic Evaluator. You are not required to include an e-mail address to satisfy this requirement — be sure to contact each college/university attended directly to request an official transcript be sent to UVM.)
  • Students applying for financial aid should file the FAFSA by March 1

International Applicants

    • If you are enrolling in university for the first time, please choose the Common Application. Login and be sure to add UVM to your "My Colleges" list.
    • If you have already attempted post-secondary coursework, please choose the Transfer Common Application. Login and be sure to add UVM to your "My Colleges" list.
  • $55 (U.S.) nonrefundable application fee (cash is not an accepted form of payment)
  • Official secondary school transcript in the original language, accompanied by a certified translation if not in English, and sent directly to Admissions by your secondary school. This transcript must include either a four-year American high school diploma or its equivalent for grades 9-12.
  • Official university/post-secondary transcript(s) in the original language, accompanied by a certified translation if not in English, and sent directly to Admissions from each institution attended since secondary school completion
  • Official SAT* or ACT test scores with writing component for first-year applicants only sent by the testing agency
  • Official TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) scores or IELTS (International English Language Testing System) scores sent by the testing agency
  • Letter(s) of recommendation (only one is required, preferably from a current instructor)
