A position at
ACCESS offers the opportunity to gain valuable work experience and develop
skills that you can build upon in the future. You wont just be answering
phones and filing papers. In addition to clerical duties, you will be considered
an integral part of the ACCESS staff and community. You will act as the face and
voice of ACCESS as you interact with students, faculty, parents, and staff on a
daily basis. To support you in doing this, you will learn about the role
disability services play in higher education as well as the issues surrounding
students with disabilities on campus.
As a work study student you can expect to engage in the following tasks as you assist all of ACCESS constituents in navigating the University and ACCESS services:

Greet patrons as then enter the office and assist them in using our office and connecting them with staff and resources

Setting appointments and maintaining full-time staff calendars using Oracle Calendar

Answering the phone
-
Work with confidential disability documentation
-
Create and file student files and documentation
-
Keep the office inviting, comfortable and accessible
-
Communicate with other offices around campus
-
Create marketing and outreach material for ACCESS related events, programs and servicves
-
Speak about ACCESS services to prospective and admitted students
