The University of Vermont

Russian

Overview

A Russian professor and a student on a river boatIntense foreign internships, fascinating career opportunities and small, intimate courses are among the many reasons students choose to study Russian at UVM. The German and Russian Department, to which Russian majors belong, provides a firm grounding of Russian language, culture and literature.

From history to food, Russian department offers variety

Classes are taught by faculty scholars whose research ranges from 18th-century Russian literature and Russian satire to the history of Russian food. From providing tutoring and translation services for community immigrants to watching news broadcasts from Moscow minutes after they occur, students enjoy a comprehensive college experience. Many choose to work in Russia after graduating, and most maintain aspects of the Russian experience in their everyday lives.
