Access to prize-winning historians

Former UVM history scholars have earned honors such as Pulitzer Prizes. Faculty members have earned international reputations for their contributions to historical scholarship and leadership positions in their fields ranging from military history to Russian film, and even the most senior faculty members teach introductory courses.

Career Directions

  • Careers: Teaching history and becoming a historian are only two career options for graduates. Many students go on to graduate study or careers including business, law, politics and public administration.

    One history alum is working as a congressional aide for a U.S. representative in Washington, and another is employed by former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean.

  • Awards: Two alumni have earned Pulitzer Prizes, one in journalism and another in fiction.
