BSAD 269 – Gov't and NFP Accounting

Course Description: Provides a study of the theory and practical application of accounting principles and auditing standards to governmental entities and not-for-profit organizations. Prerequisites: BSAD 161; Business Administration major or minor, Accounting minor, Master of Accountancy Graduate student; minimum Junior standing.

Section Description: This course provides a study of the theory and practical application of accounting principles and auditing standards to governmental entities and not-for-profit organizations. At the end of this course you should be able to: 1) understand and apply governmental and not-for-profit accounting principles, 2) understand the accounting and financial reporting issues faced by governmental entities and not-for-profit organizations, 3) recognize the role of the Governmental and Financial Accounting Standards Boards as they relate to governmental and not-for-profit accounting, and 4) be familiar with auditing standards which apply to governmental entities and not-for-profit organizations.
