Microbiology and Molecular Genetics (Accelerated Masters Program)
Microbiology and Molecular Genetics (MMG), in conjunction with the School of Business Administration (SBA), offers a 4+1 Accelerated MMG-MBA Program in which outstanding students can earn a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) degree with just one additional year of study beyond the Baccalaureate. The MMG-MBA Program compresses the normal two years required to earn the M.B.A. degree into one year, allowing students to save a year’s tuition and reach the job market one year sooner than usual.
Students typically apply to the MMG-MBA Program in the spring of their third year of undergraduate study, therefore having completed three years of study before entering the program. Applicants must also have a GPA of at least 3.00 in their first three years of study to be eligible for the program. Finally, in accordance with Graduate College guidelines, applicants should arrange to take the GRE exam in the spring of their third year.
The total credit requirement for a B.S. degree in Microbiology or Molecular Genetics is 120 credits. Of those 120 credits, the student must take the MMG Program core requirements and the advanced electives. In addition, the following economics and business courses are required: EC 011, EC 012, BSAD 065, BSAD 120, BSAD 132, BSAD 141, BSAD 150, BSAD 173 and BSAD 180. The total credit requirement for an M.B.A. degree is thirty advanced business credits, taken in the 5th year.
