Curriculum and Instruction (Master of Education)
The Curriculum and Instruction master's program is designed to develop leadership in such educational settings as teaching, curriculum theory, curriculum development, and related areas of research for elementary, middle and secondary level school settings, along with other educational areas. Areas of focus within the M. Ed. include Educational Technology, Library Media, Mathematics, Middle Level Multicultural and Cultural Studies, Reading and Language Arts, Physical Education, and General Curriculum Theory. The program is also appropriate for those with instructional roles in human services agencies and other educational venues.
Programs are developed to provide a comprehensive background in fields basic to instruction and curriculum development as well as the application of that knowledge to a specialized field. They include courses aimed at the examination and improvement of instructional practices in atmospheres that support student learning in grades K-12, and the application of curriculum theory and development. Opportunities for independent study and research are encouraged in all specializations.

Work at the graduate level draws upon other divisions of the university, thus enabling the college to develop strong programs of professional education which include academic offerings in the various teaching fields in elementary and secondary education. Degree concentrations, in addition to those listed below, can be developed on an interdisciplinary basis responding to student strengths and needs.
