Graduate Teaching Assistant Award

Each year, a number of graduate students who serve as Graduate Teaching Assistant are recognized for their teaching excellence; one of those is named Graduate Teaching Assistant of the Year. The 2011 recipient of the Graduate Teaching Assistant of the Year Award is Courtney Giles, School of Engineering.

UVM Student Research Conference

All UVM students performing research or creative projects under the mentorship of a UVM faculty member are encouraged to participate. A full day is devoted to presentations by graduate and undergraduate students from all disciplines. This event is sponsored by the vice president for research, The Graduate College and the Honors College.

University Scholar Awards

The University Scholar Awards program was established by the Graduate College to recognize outstanding and sustained contributions of university faculty to research and scholarship in their disciplines. Each year, four faculty members are selected for this award. For academic year 2011-2012, the recipients are:

• Berta M. Geller, Research Professor, Departments of Family Medicine and Radiology, College of Medicine
• Jean R. Harvey-Berino , Associate Professor & Chair, Department of Nutrition & Food Sciences, College of Agriculture & Life Sciences
• Gary E. Ward, Professor, Microbiology & Molecular Genetics, College of Medicine, College of Agriculture & Life Sciences
