Linguistics (Undergraduate Minor)

Requirements Eighteen credits, to include LING 80 (Introduction to Linguistics) and fifteen additional credits of linguistics (LING) courses. Other relevant courses may be chosen with the consultation of a Linguistics minor advisor. Of these fifteen credits, at least nine credits must be at the 100-level or above. No more than three credits may come from classes also used to fulfill the student’s major.
Other Information Some additional prerequisites are required for courses that may be used to fulfill the linguistics minor, but which do not carry the LING prefix: PSYC 109 or PSYC 161 (or permission) required for CMSI 208; PSYC 109 or PSYC 130 required for PSYC 236. Foreign language courses 001, 002, 051 and 052 are required for upper level courses. In addition, GERM 155 or GERM 156 and one other 100-level German class are required for GERM 213; SPAN 140 is required for SPAN 211.
