Exercise & Movement Science (Bachelor of Science)
Overview
The Exercise and Movement Science (EXMS) major comprises in-depth study of the theory and applications of exercise and movement sciences in health, fitness and illness prevention in a variety of populations. Students can tailor their educational experience to individual goals, including mentored internship and research experiences. Graduates of the EXMS major may pursue careers in related areas of fitness and health, such as health promotion, adapted physical activity for special populations, recreation management and health and fitness business ventures. They may also pursue one of several professional certifications, such as ACSM Exercise Specialist, or NSCA/Personal Trainer. Finally, students graduating from this program may be qualified for graduate work in Exercise and Movement Sciences, Physical Therapy, and other health care professions.General Requirements
Specific Requirements
Applicants must meet the general admission requirements for the University of Vermont. In addition, students must have one year of high school biology and one year of chemistry.Students in Exercise and Movement Science must achieve a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or better by the end of their first year and maintain a 2.5 cumulative GPA thereafter to remain in good standing in the program.
