Academics

UVM offers an exceptional learning experience. With seven undergraduate colleges and schools, a graduate college, a medical school, an honors college, continuing education and extension programs, UVM's academic programs offer breadth, depth and variety — and on an intimate scale. UVM is a close-knit community of scholars, scientists and artists (average undergraduate class size: 30), but its intimate culture is invigorated by the resources of a premier research university.

A tradition of active, hands-on learning

The practical application of knowledge enhances the UVM academic experience by deepening classroom lessons. Whether through research ($129 million in sponsored program funding, including $90 million for research, won by UVM faculty in 2012), fieldwork, service-learning, or internships and co-ops, few universities match the level of experiential learning offered to UVM students.
