Libraries and Research Facilities
The Aiken Center is home to the Spatial Analysis Lab
Spatial Analysis Lab
What happens here –A portion of the second floor of the Aiken Center houses UVM's Spatial Analysis Lab -- a research facility with the mission of applying appropriate techniques in Geographic Information System (GIS), remote sensing and spatial statistics to problems in natural resource ecology and natural resources planning. Supported entirely by grants and contracts for research, the lab specializes in biodiversity analysis, land-cover mapping, planning for conservation lands, and development of new applications for natural resource management. It's very common to see employees and students from the Rubenstein School of Environment and Natural Resources, the Geography Department, the Gund Institute for Ecological Economics and the USDA Forest Service research station, hard at work in the Spatial Analysis facility.
