Burlington is short ferry ride from Plattsburgh, New York. Bike are a common mode of transportation, even in winter. Lakes and rivers are available to those who desire a more recreational form of transportation. Major airlines land within walking distance to the campus.

The University of Vermont is located just 10 minutes by taxi from Burlington International Airport, offering daily service to major hubs. The city also is served by Vermont Transit and Greyhound bus lines and is just 15 minutes from an Amtrak train station.
