UVM Governance

Welcome, from President Thomas Sullivan

PRESIDENT, Thomas Sullivan Welcome to the University of Vermont. I hope you'll enjoy exploring the University through the many windows that this website opens on our programs.

As you get to know the University of Vermont, you'll find all the resources of a major research university combined with the human scale, flexibility, and responsiveness of a liberal arts college. But I hope you will also get to know the other side of the state's university — the people in it, the values that it has and the transformative power it has over people's lives.

  • nine legislative
  • nine self-perpetuating
  • three gubernatorial
  • two students
  • two ex-officio members
  • the governor of Vermont
  • the president of the university

UVM administration, led by the president and the senior vice president/provost, and the Faculty Senate share responsibility in managing the university's academic affairs.
