This
summer was an exciting one in London. Not only has the sun been out for
more than three days, but Lance Armstrong has also won a third Tour de
France. To any alumni who are cyclists or cycling fans, I would highly
recommend a trip to France one future July to watch the most incredible
test of human endurance. Combined with watching the race and not needing
to exert yourself, you can enjoy the delicious, yet inexpensive, local
food and drink. Actually, the only thing better than watching the Tour
would be attending our 10th reunion next June. There is a committee working
hard to plan a memorable, fun weekend for our class, and we would really
like you to be there. Please make sure you mark Reunion Weekend, May 30-June
3, on your 2002 calendar and plan to be on campus for our big celebration.
Many of you write to me saying you would like to reconnect with old friends,
well, coming to Reunion will be a great chance to do just that. Weve
all had ten years of living different lives. Just think of all the catching
up we have to do. If anyone would like to help create or update our class
reunion web page, please contact Annabel Khouri at the Alumni Office via
email at annabel.khouri@uvm.edu. Due to the paucity of news I have received
recently, I am guessing that everyone is saving news to share at Reunion.
Hope to see you all there. Jon Wright left the Navy after seven years
in the submarine force. He and his wife, Wendy, now live in Arlington,
Va., where he has nearly completed law school at George Mason University.
He is specializing in patent and business law, while Wendy is a policy

Hakala were married in Columbus, Ga., on June 23, 2001. The newlyweds
spent their honeymoon in Fiji, and they are now living in Ashburnham,
Mass. Congratulations to you both! Jennifer Roitman just completed her
masters degree in sports exercise psychology at the Arizona School
of Professional Psychology. After two years in Phoenix, shes now
back on the East Coast, living in Brookline, Mass. Its good to hear
that some people never change. Rob Danckert, Simon Jacobson, and Josh
Safran are still playing rugby. They recently had a match, which included
a few other UVMers: Marcel Girouard, Gregg Schmidt 97, and Mike
Mazza 98. Due to Robs tremendous performance lately, he was
invited to attend the USA Rugby Under-25 Development Camp. If he makes
the team, he will have the opportunity to represent the Stars and Stripes
in the British Isles at the end of the summer. Go get em, Dancks!
Simon and Josh head up VERMONT LEGENDS RUGBY, the alumni team from UVM.
They are growing the organization and looking to get in touch with a few
people. Here is an email address, if you are interested in participating:
vermontlegendsrfc@hotmail.com. A weekend at the Cape is always a good
idea in the summer. Well, a whole slew of our classmates found ourselves
at Alissa Bors house one weekend. The rain didnt stop these
UVMers. Rain or shine, they were going to stroll on the beach, enjoy chowder,
and stay up til all hours of the night. Who is this crazy crew of
people? They are Steve Howe, Kristen Nicolosi, Chris Fauci, Melissa Hofeller,
Lindsey Bealko, Darren Naseck, Megan Grantham, Claire Kitidis, Sara Torrey,
Susie Robidoux, Andrew Beibelman, Rick Abbruzzese, Matt Nielson, Mike
Griffen, Alissa and I. Lets hope that next year the sun will shine
all weekend long. I think many of us remember Gab Krechmer. Well, Gab
has left the East Coast and headed to the Golden Gate, San Francisco.
Gab is now looking for a job. I know there are plenty of UVMers out that
way, so if any of you could help him out or are just looking to get in
touch with a fellow classmate, send Gab an email at gab@amblewood.com.
Enjoy yourself out there, Gab! Molly Nitka has been teaching English as
a second language in Heredia, Costa Rica, since January 2000. After graduation,
Regina Miller lived in Boston with Doug Renthal, Nick Williams, and Gregory
May before moving to Breckenridge, Colo., last May with April McAllister.
They have run into a few UVMers there, including former Zeta Psi brother,
John Whitmore. Regina sent news of Beth Levin, who moved to Bethesda,
Md., where she is living out her passion by working in the catering industry;
Abi Dinsmore, who works on a research project at the University of Louisiana;
Marissa Stokes, who is continuing her education at the University of Arizona;
and Meghan Murphy, who still lives in Burlington, planning to graduate
in May. They all were planning a big reunion in Colorado last June. Well,
I had my first request for a UVMer seeking a fellow UVMer. I am trying
to find out any information on Suzy Kaplan. Where is she? What is she
up to? If anyone has heard from Suzy, or Suzy, if you are reading this,
send me an email at the address at the top of this column. Some of you
might be wondering what your roommate from orientation or that old lab
partner you had are up to. Please let me know, and I am more than happy
to help you search. Our class notes is a great way to get in touch with
old friends. Please take advantage. Thank you again for the fabulous updates.
I hope you enjoyed your summer and that many of you were on campus for
Homecoming. Take care.
