The Vermont Wind Ensemble, directed by Alan Parshley, will present the program “Myths and Legends” on Sunday, Nov. 3 at 3 p.m. in the Music Department Recital Hall on Redstone campus.

The performance will cover a wide range of pieces that fit the theme: everything from a musical portrait of an ancient Native American narrative in Alfred Reed’s “A Northern Legend” to an original work by Johan de Meij, inspired by J.R.R. Tolkein’s The Lord of the Rings.

The wind ensemble is a dynamic mix of current students and alumni, along with members of the Burlington community. At this special event the group will honor five members who have played with the ensemble since its inception 34 years ago, four of whom have degrees from UVM.
