CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Vermont freshman Megan MacDonald (Wayland, Mass.) has been named the America East Women's Lacrosse Rookie of the Week for the week ending March 24. The conference office made the announcement on Monday. MacDonald led UVM to a 1-1 week. She scored three goals and added five ground balls, four caused turnovers and two draw controls. MacDonald scored once and recorded four ground balls and four caused turnovers in a loss at Holy Cross. She followed that with a pair of goals in UVM's come-from-behind victory over conference foe Stony Brook. MacDonald is the first Catamount to earn a weekly award this season. She ranks among the America East leaders in shots and draw controls per game and game winning goals. MacDonald ranks fourth on the team in scoring with 12 points (8 goals, 4 assists) and second on the team in draw controls (20) and third in ground balls (14). Vermont owns a record of 5-2 overall and is 2-0 in America East, marking the first time in the program's history the Catamounts have started conference play unbeaten. UVM hosts Harvard on Tuesday (March 25) at 3:00pm at Moulton Winder Field and then travels to Boston U for a 3:00pm game on Saturday (March 29) at Nickerson Field. The Boston U game will be televised on CN8 (Channel 18 on most Comcast cable systems in Vermont).
