AQUACULTURE

Lake Champlain Sea Grant collaborates with local Vermont Conservation Districts to provide pond bank training to those interested in small-scale aquaculture pond. Offered on demand by the Districts and led by a University of New Hampshire aquaculture specialist, the short courses are held in the spring to coincide with the sale of fingerlings by Conservation Districts.

We are a co-sponsor of the upcoming Northeast Aquaculture Conference and Exposition, to be held December 2-4, 2004 in Manchester, NH. This event is the showcase of aquaculture business and technology in New England.

Information on aquaculture for the Lake Champlain region is available from Cornell University Extension at http://www.dnr.cornell.edu/ext/fish/

Contact Vermont conservation districts to see when trout fingerling sales are to be held or workshops offered. http://vacd.org/
