iTunes is a dynamic software program that can organize, play, and copy
your music. In addition, iTunes provides the "burning" software
you need to create custom cd's! Here are some tips on using iTunes |
- To begin, Click once on the iTunes icon on your Dock
(indicated on the adjacent image by the black marker below the iTunes
icon)

View and Play
- An iTunes dialogue box will appear with many different options
- You can view all the music files that iTunes includes for you in its'
library.
- To play any of the titles, double click on it
|

- After choosing a song, a change will occur in the upper portion of
the dialoge box as pictured. You may pause the particular song, or chose
another by clicking the arrows. You can also adjust the volume level
of iTunes (you may also need to adjust the volume of your computer as
well to find the desired level.
- The display will show the title, and elapsed time of the song.
- You may also search for other songs in your library as well. Type
in the name of a song or artist into the text field and iTunes will
find it if it is in you library.

Browsing
- The browse tool provides an advanced organizational feature for your
music.
You can find it under the Edit Menu
- The Browser will display all the artists and the various music albums
in your library. By clicking on any of the choices, iTunes will find
the desired song in your library (as shown below):

- In addition to browsing, iTunes can organize your music by
Playlists. They are listed under the Source menu. To create
a new playlist, choose New Playlist under the File
Menu. You can name the Playlist by clicking on the text next
to "note" and typing. Click and drag any title into your new
playlist, just like you would for any folder on your computer (the Playlist
will be highlighted when a selection is added to it).

Adding .mp3 or other audio files to your library
- You can add audio files from your harddrive to your Library.
- Choose Add to Library from the File Menu.
Search your harddrive for music files and double click on the
desired choice(or click once and once again on the Choose
button) . iTunes stores its files in your Home Music Folder.

Copying music from a CD to iTunes
- Playlists are also helpful for copying music from a CD to your hardrive.All
of your music can be accessible from your hard drive for easy play back.

- Place a CD in your drive. iTunes will recognize the media and open
it a dialogue box.

- Click and drag a track into your Library and an orange
progress icon will appear
- The Tracks will now appear in your Library
|
|
- Create a playlist with the desired title and music when the tracks
have been copied to your Library. You are now ready
to Burn a CD
|

Burning a custom CD
- After your music is organized into a playlist, you can now burn a
CD. Double click on the playlist so that it appears in the dialogue
box
- **The total playing time of all the music in you
playlist should generally not exceed 65-75 minutes. Some CD-R and CD-RW
media can hold up to 80 minutes of music, but it is safer to burn less
so that everything fits on your CD.**

- Click on the Burn CD icon and the "door"
will open to the Burn icon. Click on the icon and iTunes
will prompt you to insert a blank CD-R or CD-RW into your disk drive.
- Click on the Burn icon again and the burning process
will begin.
