Professor Holmes specializes in judicial politics and constitutional law. Her current research focuses on the staffing of the federal judiciary, including judicial appointment strategy, confirmation delay, and judicial retirement decisions. Her previous work on confirmation delay has been published in Judicature and Political Science Quarterly. Her current research projects include an analysis of the public nature of modern appointment politics.
