2008 Grant Awards

2008 Research and Education Grants
These multiyear grants have specific targets and outcomes that will benefit farmers and the agricultural community. The average grant is about $90,000. A preproposal is required each May for conceptual review.

2008 Professional Development Grants
These grants are for education programs that target Cooperative Extension, NRCS, and other professionals in sustainable agriculture techniques and new practices. Specific targets and a broad, holistic approach to training is required. The average grant is about $120,000. A preproposal is required each May for conceptual review.

2008 Farmer Grants
Farmer Grants allow commercial farmers to explore new sustainable techniques specific to their crops, products, and the dynamics of their farm. Grants are capped at $10,000 and normally run a year or two.

2008 Partnership Grants
Partnership Grants allow extension and NRCS staff, crop consultants, and others who work directly with farmers to address a wide range of topics in sustainable agriculture. Grants are capped at $10,000 and normally run a year or two.

2008 Sustainable Community Grants
Sustainable Community Grants allow governments, nonprofits, and other organizations to work directly with farmers to connect community development and agriculture. Funded in partnership with the Northeast Regional Center for Rural Development, grants are capped at $10,000 and normally run a year or two.
